Betty L. Pracht, 77, of 1029 Monroe, Quincy, died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2014) in Blessing Hospital. Betty was born May 30, 1936, in Bowen, the daughter of Alvin "Slats" and Lucille Lunt Witt. She married Marion Pracht Aug. 16, 1963, in Quincy. He died June 6, 1969. Betty graduated from Bowen High School and was a 1957 graduate of the Blessing School of Nursing. She did postgraduate work in geriatrics and rehabilitation. She had been employed at Blessing Hospital for 43 years, and was a recipient of the Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award for her work. Betty also went on 10 medical mission trips to Haiti as well as one to Costa Rica. She enjoyed playing softball, fishing and camping and she was a diehard Cubs fan. Survivors include her brother, Robert Witt and his wife, Lee, of Leesburg, Fla.; four nieces, Diane (Glen) Verheyen of Beardstown, Kim (Tom) Chestnut of Michigan, LouAnne (Dave) Smith of Arizona, and Tracey Rivas of Arizona; three nephews, Roger Witt of Quincy, Danny (Suzanne) Witt of Bowen, and William (Catherine) Witt of Florida and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Witt. SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brian Stone officiating.
