VERSAILLES, Ill. -- Donald Lyle McClelland, 61, of Versailles died at 8:18 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 2, 2008) in Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo. He was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Rushville, the son of George B. and Rebecca Armel McClelland. He married Mildred "Millie" Welty on May 6, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Sterling and she survives. Mr. McClelland was a farmer. He also worked for National Starch and Chemical Company in Meredosia for 29 years and more recently was working for CCK Automations in Jacksonville. Mr. McClelland graduated from Brown County High School with the Class of 1965. He was a member of the Versailles Christian Church. Donald was also a member of the Boilermakers Local No. 484 in Meredosia and always enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and baking, but he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Mildred "Millie" McClelland of Versailles; seven children, Kirk McClelland and his wife, Heather, of Mount Sterling, Jane Sexton and her husband, Jeff, of Roodhouse, Eric McClelland and his wife, Matina, of Fowler, Chad McClelland and his wife, Stacy, of Quincy, Sean McClelland and his wife, Alisha, of Payson and Amie and Bret McClelland, both at home; eight grandchildren, Ashleigh, Alyson, Chase and Nicholas McClelland, all of Mount Sterling, Colton Sexton of Roodhouse, Ben McClelland of Fowler, and Emily and Kyle McClelland, both of Payson; two sisters, Doris Bedenbender of Rushville and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Bridgewater and her husband, Tom, of Beardstown; two brothers, Edward McClelland and his wife, Pat, of Mount Vernon, Mo., and Gerald "Jerry" McClelland and his wife, Carol, of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patricia and Mildred McClelland. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mount Sterling. Burial will be in the Mount Sterling City Cemetery. VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home. MEMORIALS:
