Donna K. Simmons of Golden, Colo., formerly of Quincy, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 27, 2014). She was born Feb. 28, 1943, in Quincy, a daughter of Alfred and Janet Miller Ehrhardt. She married Michael Simmons on Sept. 1, 1963, in Quincy. He survives. Donna was a 1961 graduate of Quincy High School. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved gardening, cooking gourmet meals for her family and friends and hiking up North Table Mountain near her home in Golden. In addition to her husband, Michael F. Simmons, survivors include her daughter, Nicole McChesney; her son, Nathan Simmons; eight grandchildren, Don, Nicholas, Emma, Michael and Ruby McChesney and Fritz, Tacie and Liv Simmons; her mother, Janet Ehrhardt; and her sisters, Sharon Dittmer and Janie Fischer. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Ehrhardt, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elorie Myers and Virgess Simmons. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Fieberkorn conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
