Elizabeth DeMoss Obituary

BUSHNELL, Ill. -- Elizabeth DeMoss, 94, of Bushnell, formerly of Camp Point, died at 8:43 p.m. Friday, (Aug. 23, 2013) in the Elms, Macomb.

She was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Quincy, a daughter of Orie and Erma Stahl Campbell. She married Glenn Otis DeMoss on Jan. 24, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died April 23, 2002.

Elizabeth farmed alongside her husband and delivered many meals to the field. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, and especially enjoyed making angel food cakes for others. Elizabeth was a 1936 graduate of Clayton High School and was a member of the Adams County Home Extension. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. DeMoss was a member of Camp Point United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Pendarvis and her husband, Dan, of Prairie City; a son, Wes DeMoss and his wife, Ruth, of Camp Point; five grandchildren, Holly Brint and her husband, Dave, of Good Hope, Jeff Pendarvis and his wife, Amy, of Avon, Debbie Tenhouse and her husband, Doug, of Quincy, Danette Molidor and her husband, Jim, of Quincy, and David DeMoss and his wife, Ginger, of Quincy; 16 great-grandchildren, Jakob, Alexa, Addy and Jace Pendarvis, Hannah and Hayden Brint, Jesslyn Chew and her husband, Corey, Lauren, Regan and Collin Tenhouse, Margot, Mitchell and Audrey Molidor, and Christian, Alaina and Cody DeMoss; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Baker; and six brothers, Curtis Campbell and his wife, Lora, Henry Campbell and his wife, Velva, Elmer Campbell and his wife, Olive, Ernest Campbell and his wife, Mildred, Charles Campbell, and Harold Campbell and his wife, Veda.

SERVICES: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Camp Point United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Tomich conducting. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.

VISITATION: 9 to 11:15 a.m. Monday, with family present from 10 to 11:15 a.m. in the church.

MEMORIALS: Camp Point United Methodist Church, the Elms of Macomb, or Hospice Compassus of Galesburg.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point.

I had the great pleasure of getting to spend time with Elizabeth the last few years of her life and got to know her very well! What a wonderful women with a huge heart! I know that she was welcomed into the Lords kingdom with opened arms! She will be missed by all! My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of this lovely women!
