ROCKPORT, Ill. -- Genevieve M. Irvine, 79, of Rockport, died at 6:12 a.m. Friday (June 21, 2013) in Liberty Village Nursing Home, Pittsfield, following an extended illness. Mrs. Irvine was born on Aug. 20, 1933, in Hull, a daughter of Russell and Ethel M. O'Brien Arnold. She was married to Robert Irvine on Nov. 2, 1952, in Hull, in her parents' home by the Rev. John Golden. When the Hull high school burned down, the students were transported to Hannibal High School. It was there that Genevieve met Bob, and that is the rest of the story. Genevieve was a member of the Pittsfield Nazarene Church. She taught Sunday school and each year made Christmas stockings for her students embroidered with their names. She was also involved with the Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs. She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Jody) Grammer of New Canton and Susan (Ken) Harrison of Rockport; one son, Steve (Diana) Irvine of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Edward (Wanda) Arnold of Hannibal, Mo., and Kenneth Arnold of Henley, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Myrtle Winn, Louise Bock and Lula Willis; and a daughter, Linda Ford. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Friday in the Grand View Funeral Home, Hannibal. The Rev. John Ruzich and the Rev. Jon Kroeze will conduct. Burial will follow in Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal. VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
