Genevieve W. Tucker, 87, formerly of Sunset Apartments, 301 N. Eighth, died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 27, 2013) in Sunset Home. Genevieve was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Nebo, a daughter of William E. and Cora Bradley Ralph. On Nov. 18, 1951, she married Francis "Mack" Tucker in Pittsfield. He died Feb. 2, 1991. Genevieve began her career as a registered nurse at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield. In 1951, she and her husband moved to Quincy, where she continued nursing at St. Mary Hospital. Genevieve retired in 1991. After her retirement, Genevieve moved to Center, Mo., where she would spend the next 20 years. She loved taking care of people, and she spent most of her time doing community- and church-based volunteer work. Genevieve had been a Cub Scout den mother at St. Francis Church, and she was a member of The Centerettes and the Red Hat Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending her flower garden and knitting. Survivors include a son, Patrick (Patricia) Tucker of Hamilton; a daughter, Mary (Terry) Penrod of Fowler; six grandchildren, Timothy R. Tucker of Chicago, Jessica E. (Neal) Kohlmorgan of Hamilton, Erin M. Tucker of Bloomington, Ind., Christopher (Angela) Calvert of Beaufort, S.C., Nicole (fiancÃ©e Bobby Cook) Calvert of San Antonio, Texas, and Terry T. Kemp of Burlington, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Kase T., Kage E., and Kara E. Kohlmorgan, all of Hamilton, Savannah Calvert of Beaufort, and Jessica Calvert of Antelope, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Michael Tucker; and numerous brothers and sisters. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Sunset Apartment Chapel, 301 N. Eighth, with the Rev. John Kennedy conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.
