Gerald Welch Obituary

HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Gerald W. "Jerry" Welch, 57, of Hannibal, formerly of Palmyra, died Wednesday (June 1, 2011) in Levering Regional Health Care Center, Hannibal.

Jerry was born April 2, 1954, in Hannibal, to Woodrow W. and Mary J. Badman Welch.

He was a 1972 graduate of Palmyra High School.

Jerry had worked for American Woodworking in Hannibal. He had formerly worked for the Salvation Army in Hannibal during the flood of 1993 and Gardner Denver in Quincy.

Jerry was a music enthusiast and was formerly a bass player in the local bands Country Gap, Speed Bump and Rod and the Satellites. He loved music, history, airplanes and attending air shows. His passion was to spend time with his children.

He was a member of the Clover Road Christian Church in Hannibal where he was a bass player in the Worship Team for many years.

Survivors include children, Lauren Welch of Hannibal, Jerrod Welch of Hannibal and Nathan Welch of Hannibal; a sister, Janet S. Allen of Hannibal; niece and nephew, Wilson Allen of Lawrence, Kan., and Suzanne Bogue and family of Hannibal; and the love of his life, Jackie Carlstrom of Quincy, and her children, Samantha Stewart of Lafayette, La., Phillip Carlstrom of Custer, S.D., Ashley Carlstrom of Grand Rapids, Mich., Olivia, Shelby and Ian Carlstrom, all of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Monday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, with Rev. Tim Goodman conducting. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Hannibal High School Band Boosters.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lewis Brothers Funeral Home, Palmyra.
