Gloria Faith Peters, 88, formerly of 2106 S. 23rd in Quincy, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2012), in the Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy. Gloria was born June 25, 1924, in Hardin, a daughter of Philip H. and Goldie Blackwell Stumpf. She married Fred Antone Peters on Sept. 6, 1947, in Batchtown. He died on April 16, 2011. Gloria and Fred farmed in Calhoun County for many years. For many years, she worked on the election board in Calhoun County. She and her husband came to Quincy in 1987. She was of the Catholic faith. In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed sewing and quilting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: two sons, Roger (Marianne) Peters of Quincy, and Fred A. (Sandra) Peters of Sedalia, Mo.; four grandchildren, Fred A. (Rebecca) Peters of Cunningham, Tenn., Chad J. (Engrid) Peters of Newport News, Va., and Kevin A. Peters and Emily L. Peters, both of Quincy; and five great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Hailey and Keith Peters of Newport News, and Fred and Caroline Peters of Cunningham. The family is very grateful to the Illinois Veterans Home for the compassionate care Gloria received while living there. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Roger D. Peters; two brothers, Gerald and Forrest Stumpf; two sisters, Geneva Bonner and Phyllis Snyders; and two brothers and a sister in infancy. SERVICES: 2 p.m. Tuesday in All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home. The Rev. John Frank conducting. Burial in Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum, Quincy.
