Grace E. Crabbe, 96, formerly of 301 N. Eighth, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday (April 16, 2012) in Sunset Home. She was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Quincy, a daughter to George and Elizabeth Augustine Zimmerman. On May 22, 1937, she married Mac A. Crabbe in Quincy. He died on June 10, 1990. Mrs. Crabbe was a member of South Side Boat Club Ladies' Aid and a former member of Cedar Crest Country Club. She was an avid sports person and especially enjoyed bowling and golf. She worked for five years at Wurst Hardware and as a bookkeeper for seven and a half years at Tangerine Bowl. Survivors include two sons, Gene Paul Crabbe and his wife, Alma, of Dallas City and David Arthur Crabbe of Quincy; six grandchildren, Gene Crabbe and his wife, Tammy, of Gilbert, Ariz., Angie Crabbe, U.S.N., of Jacksonville, Fla., Julie Gale of Dallas City and David, Tony and Mac Crabbe, all of Quincy; a great-grandson, Scott Payne of Danville; three great-granddaughters, Lillian Crabbe of Quincy and Elizabeth and Victoria Crabbe of Gilbert; a sister, Lillian Rodefeld and her husband, Willis, of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Phillip and George Zimmerman; three sisters, Clara and Doris Hancox and Ruby Thenhaus; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Crabbe. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim White conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
