Harriett Barclift, 95, of Quincy died at 11:27 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 15, 2012) in the Good Samaritan Home. Born Aug. 9, 1917, on a farm near Gerlaw, she was a daughter of Harry B. and Hannah M. Erlandson Martin. She married Perry E. Barclift on July 30, 1938, in Macomb. He died Oct. 30, 1984. Harriett graduated from Monmouth High School and Gem City Business College. After college, she moved to and worked in Macomb, where she met and married Perry. They then moved back to Quincy where they raised their three daughters. She was a longtime member of Luther Memorial Church, Elks Club No. 101 and South Side Boat Club. She enjoyed golfing and bowling for many years and was an avid bridge player. Harriett had worked as a receptionist at the P & S Clinic on 11th and Maine streets for more than 25 years. Survivors include three daughters, Linda M. Schuttler of Quincy, Jo Hannah Hoffmann of Downers Grove and Debra Echternkamp of Salt Lake City, Utah; nine grandchildren, Chris (Brad) Bronestine of Williamstown, Mo., Tracy (Bob) Kiefer of Quincy, Shelly (Darian) Cobb of Quincy, Mark (Nicole) Hoffmann of Brookfield, Eric (Maureen) Hoffmann of Lombard, Marisa Echternkamp of Quincy, Nicole Guthrie of Quincy, Mark (Trisha) Maddox of Hecker and Kristina Echternkamp of Salt Lake City; 15 great-grandchildren, Ryan Kiefer of Quincy, Jamie Kiefer of Quincy, Ashley and Skyler Bronestine of Williamstown, Rowen and Wyatt Hoffmann of Brookfield, Cooper and Will Hoffmann of Lombard, Perry Echternkamp, Paige Maddox, Kendra Maddox, Danielle and Quinn Guthrie, all of Quincy, and Hudson and Garrison Maddox of Hecker; two sisters, Helen Freburg of Arvada, Colo., and Doreen Helm of Monmouth. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews and her best friend, Joann Brubaker, of Quincy. Mrs. Barclift was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Perry; a grandson, Brad Schuttler; and two sisters, Beulah Geers and Mary Jane Hart. SERVICES: Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Luther Memorial Church with Pastor Tony Metz and the Rev. Richard Barclift conducting. Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. VISITATION: There will be no visitation. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to Luther Memorial Church, Good Samaritan Home or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
