Helen Jane Barclay "Janie" Hundley Obituary
CARTHAGE, Ill. â€" Helen Jane "Janie" Barclay Hundley, 64, of Erie, Pa., formerly of Carthage, died Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2013) in the Village at Lutheran Square, Erie.

Janie was born Sept. 5, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, a daughter of Andrew and Helen Josephine Montgomery Barclay.

She attended Carthage High School, graduating in 1967. She then went on to attend Carl Sandburg College in Carthage and Kishwaukee Community College in Malta.

Janie began her career at Contel Telephone, while still in high school, working as an operator. She was later relocated to DeKalb in 1984, where she served as the office manager. Janie worked in management during her years at Contel, GTE and Verizon. She was located in Marion in 1992, and then moved to Erie, Pa., in 1995, where she retired with Verizon after 36 years of service in 2003.

Janie enjoyed playing Yatzee, Bunco, Tripoly, and other card games with family and friends. She was an avid NBA fan and collected Mickey Mouse memorabilia and Santas. She also enjoyed attending her granddaughter's sporting events, rain or shine.

Janie was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Janie is survived by a son, John Anthony Hundley of Carthage; a daughter, Melissa Jo Hundley of Erie; a grandson, Justin Allen Hundley; granddaughters, Brianna Jane Opperman and Claudia Alexandria Brewer; a great-grandson, Gavin Alexander Brewer; a brother, Edward Barclay of Carthage; and a sister, Francis Scovil of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin brother, Jimmy Barclay; two other brothers, Larry and Jerry Barclay; the love of her life, Hubert LeRoy Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Barclay.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Sunday in the Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.

VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
