Helen Lucille Goodpaster Amburn, 78, of 1238 Springdale South, died Tuesday (March 11, 2014) in her home. Helen was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Quincy, a daughter of Chester and Margaret Helen Jones Goodpaster. She married Robert L. Amburn in St. Peter Church on June 4, 1955, and he survives. Helen was employed by Moorman Manufacturing, Great River Communications and Roderick P. Miller, from where she retired. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. As a young woman, she was an accomplished concert violinist. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children and her large family. In addition to her husband, Robert, survivors also include her three children, Jeffrey L. (Mary Lynn) Amburn of Warsaw, Ind., and Terry J. (Linda) Amburn and Kathy A. (Chris) Veihl, all of Quincy. She was a grandmother to Meredith (Adam) Wilcox, Bryant, Conner and Gaven Amburn, Ashley (Patrick) Sandoval, Paige Amburn, Andy (Jennifer) Lyons, Nicole (fiance' Nathan Holtschlag) Lyons and Trent Lyons. She was a great-grandmother of Abigail and Caden Sandoval, Adam, Austin, Dawson and Dylan Altmix and Braeden and Isabella Lyons. She was a sister of Emily (Tom) Roberts, Alice Wellman, Elaine Yager, Jean (Robert) Dolph, Barbara (Terry) Lewis, Sara Bittorf and Toni (Terry) Tully. She was a sister in-law of David and Joan Amburn and Ray Leonard. Numerous nieces, nephews and her Yorkie, Chloe, also survive. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Judy Leonard; brothers-in-law, Norm Yager and Bill Bittorf; and her nephew, Patrick Leonard. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Vernon Olmer, OFM. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery. VISITATION: 9 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
