HAMILTON, Ill. -- Irene M. Turner, 81 of Hamilton, died Sunday (May 1, 2011) at 3:50 a.m. in her home.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1930, in Warsaw, a daughter of William and Margaret "Maggie" Carle Bloyd. Irene married Wilber Turner on May 19, 1947, in Phenix City, Ala. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2010.
Irene attended Oak Grove School, rural Carthage. She was of the Christian faith. She and her husband, Wilber, farmed north of Hamilton for many years, starting on March 1, 1950. Irene was a hard worker, dedicating her life to her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing Bingo. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Irene loved the time she shared with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael (wife, Kathy) Turner of Warsaw, and their children, Jennifer Turner and Janelle (Richard) Thompson of Warsaw, and their son, Jude Michael Thompson, Mark (wife, Tracy) Turner of Nauvoo, and their children, Josh Turner of Hamilton and Erin (John) Kelly of Springfield, who are anticipating the birth of the newest great granddaughter, Jacy Jo Kelly, Holly (husband Steve) Morris of Hamilton and their children, Jason (Sarah) Baxter of Keokuk,Iowa and their children, Alex, Bryce and Camden Baxter, Amy (John) Poland of Hamilton, and their children, Grace, Allyson and Stephen Poland, Josh Morris of Edwardsville, and Ashley Morris of Quincy, Kevin (wife, Tammy) Turner of Hamilton, and their children, Jeremy Turner of Quincy, and his children, Tallen and Sierra Turner, Dustin Hartweg of Hamilton, and Jessica (Dustin) Howe of Warsaw, and their son, William Howe, Terry (wife, Diane) Turner of Hamilton, and their children, Cole, Chloe and Carson Turner of Hamilton; a brother Frank Bloyd of Sante Fe, Mo.; a sister Martha Jean Frakes of Roseville.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; twin children Carla Jo Turner and Kim Jerome Turner; three sisters, Nancy Provine, Dorothy Markey and Irma Brown; and three brothers, Leo Bloyd, Kenneth Bloyd and Arthur, in infancy.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bethel Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, with Bob Wagner and Stephen Morris conducting. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
VISITATION: After 2 p.m. Monday with family present 4-8 p.m. in the Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home, Hamilton.
MEMORIALS: Hamilton Fire Department or Hancock Health Department.
