NEW LONDON, Mo. -- Jeana Sue Herl Babyak, 71, of New London, died at 7:52 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 29, 2011) at her home. Mrs. Babyak was born July 15, 1940, in Hannibal to Frank Adolphus and Hattie Evelyn Foehringer Herl. She was married on Aug. 5, 1961, in New London to Andy "Ikie" Babyak Jr. He survives. Mrs. Babyak was a homemaker for many years. She was later employed at Crane and Fleming, Buckhorn Rubber, and retired from Continental Cement Co. as an accounts receivable accountant. Jeana was a talented student graduating as valedictorian of her class at Hannibal High School in 1958, while also winning the American Legion Oratorical Contest in 1957 and serving as governor at the American Legion Girl's State in 1957. She was well known for her cooking and especially enjoyed entertaining her family and guests and organizing dinner parties. Jeana loved to read and spend time with her family. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ilasco and later a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. Other survivors include two children, Brent Babyak (Patti) of Quincy, Ill., and Andrea Farr (Brad) of Hannibal; a sister, Vicki Howes (Charlie) of Manchester; two grandchildren, Meagan Babyak and Andrew Babyak; a sister-in-law, Melinda Wright (Greg) of Hannibal; an aunt, Dottie Foehringer of Hot Springs Village, Ark; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Babyak was preceded in death by her parents and an uncle, George Foehringer. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal with the Rev. Mike Quinn officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pallbearers will be Billy Northcutt, Andrew Babyak, Mark Strieker, Carl Zupan, Bob Drennan and Jeff Heibel. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Quinlin and Ken Tibbitts. VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
