PALMYRA, Mo. -- Larry L. Lomax, 68, of Palmyra, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, in Adams County, Colo.

Larry was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Palmyra, a son of Gareld Vernon and Zetta Mae Lomax. Larry married Janis L. Buckwalter on April 9, 1967, in Palmyra United Methodist Church. She survives at home.

Mr. Lomax was a line-haul operator for ABF Trucking in Kansas City, Mo., where he was a member of Teamsters Local No. 41.

After graduation from Palmyra High School in 1962, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service, and often commented, "Once a Marine, always a Marine." Larry also was a member of Boots-Dickson American Legion Post No. 174.

He commented often about his pride and love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Lyndell L. Lomax and his wife, Victoria, of Hannibal, and Lance L. Lomax and his wife, Leslie, of Troy; a sister, Betty M. Ragar and her husband, Jim, of Palmyra; six grandchildren, Irelan S. and Zane S. Lomax of Hannibal, and Lane L., Lexi J., Lewis W. and Landon J. Lomax of Troy; and his father-in-law, M. J. Buckwalter of Palmyra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Ada L. Buckwalter.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, with the Rev. Eric Anderson and the Rev. Dewayne Larenson conducting. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Casket bearers will be Jim Ragar, Randy Ragar, Ryan Ragar, Jim Buckwalter, David Buckwalter and Rick Buckwalter.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Great River Honor Flight or Landon's Helping Paws.
