Louis Henry "Lou" Woerman, 91, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 2905 Maine, Quincy, died at 4:35 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 30, 2012) at the Illinois Veterans Home. Born Aug. 10, 1921, in Quincy, Lou was the son of Henry and Letha Thomas Woerman. He was married to Virginia Bangert. She preceded him in death. He married Helen Louise Marble on Nov. 24, 1962, in Las Vegas. She died Nov. 22, 2011. An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, Lou loved spending time at his river camp and camping with his wife in Mexico and California. Mr. Woerman served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Woerman was employed as a supervisor for many years at Angulis Machine Shop in Southgate, Calif., until his retirement in 1983 when he moved back to Maywood, Mo., and later moved to their home on Maine Street. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Woerman and his wife, Janet, of Springfield, and Robert "Bob" Woerman and his wife, Judy, of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Peggy Mitchell (Joe), Ronnie Woerman (Sema), Rhonda Cantun, Rusty Woerman (Mary), Rod Woerman, Bobby Woerman (Patty) and Stacy Jesse (Jim); and many loving great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Woerman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Richard Woerman; and two sisters, Ruby Kirkpatrick and Arlene Randall. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery. VISITATION: Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Quincy Humane Society.
