M. Wittkopf Obituary

PLYMOUTH, Ill. -- M. Marie Martin Wittkopf, 100, formerly of Plymouth, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday (May 22, 2011) in the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

She was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Brown County, to Roscoe Henry and Mabel Ann Nichols Diehl. She was first married to Alfred Martin June 11, 1934, in Carthage. He died Jan. 28, 1968. She later married Glenn Wittkopf Sept. 15, 1972, in Quincy. He died July 28, 1992.

Marie was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Plymouth. She loved horses and enjoyed yardsaling and spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, Don (Pat) Martin of Colchester; a daughter, Glenna (Howard) Prather of Rushville; a stepdaughter, Norma (Rodney) Johnson of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, Jackie Bayer and fiancé of Ohio, Ronnie Martin and friend of California, Donella "Nell" (Jurl) Southerland of Littleton, Peggy Marcelino of Rushville, Phyllis (Tim) Metz of Versailles and Allan (Jennie) Prather of Texas; great-grandchildren, Tyler Martin of Germany, Dowell Southerland of Littleton, Seth (fiancé Lacey) Marcelino of Rushville and Justin Workman of Beardstown; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kendyl Marcelino of Rushville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George Diehl; and a sister, Anna Lou Jones.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Taylor. Burial will be Woodland Cemetery near Fishhook.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Elms Nursing Home or charity of donor's choice.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta.
