Mrs. Marva Diane Bartels, 64, of Macomb, formerly of Quincy, who loved unconditionally, protected fiercely and stood by us unyieldingly, walked into the arms of God at 9:45 a.m. Friday (Oct. 18, 2013). She is finally at peace. Born March 11, 1949, in Quincy, Marva was the daughter of Marvin L. and Thelma Gross Mangold. She married Larry W. Bartels on May 27, 1977, in Quincy. He survives. Diane had a heart for helping others and was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and many other charities. She enjoyed gardening, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Larry; two sons, Jared Bartels of Indianapolis, and Jacob Bartels of Macomb; a daughter, Nicole Bartels Martin of Atlanta, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jackson Martin and Abigail Martin; two brothers, Bruce Mangold (Donna) and Steven Mangold (Cheryl), both of Quincy; two sisters, Janis Brink and Sandra Gibson (Jeff), both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bartels was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in- law, Clint Martin. SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded to Diane. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.
