Melissa D. Warning Obituary
BARRY, Ill. -- Melissa D. Warning, 44, of Barry, died Monday (Dec. 31, 2012) at the scene of a vehicle accident near Pittsfield.

Melissa was born on Nov. 6, 1968, in Quincy, a daughter of Eldon F. and Beverly J. Cleveland Gaus.

Melissa was raised in Ewing, Mo., and was a graduate of Highland Senior High School Class of 1987 in Ewing. She attended Culver-Stockton College and received her LPN license from Southeastern Iowa Community College in Keokuk, Iowa. She had worked at several nursing homes, including North Adams Nursing Home in Mendon and Barry Community Care Center. She currently was employed as a LPN for Quincy Medical Group, working in Dr. Scott Kimber's office in Quincy and Dr. Ronald Johnson's office in Pittsfield.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberty, and attended the United Methodist Church in Barry, where she organized the Bible school program. She was active in 4-H and the Rabbit Raiser 4-H Club. She enjoyed blackberrying, mushroom hunting, crocheting, cake decorating, cooking, working with animals and waterskiing. Melissa's life revolved around her children and their activities.

She is survived by her companion of 15 years, Eric Main of Barry; her father, Eldon Gaus of Ewing; her sons, Kyle Warning, Evin Main and Colton Main, all of the home; two brothers and one sister, Kevin (Sherri) Gaus of Jacksonville, Fla., Curtis Gaus of Callahan, Fla., and Joyce Gaus of Jacksonville, Ill.; in addition to several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Melissa was preceded in death by her mother on Jan. 29, 1995, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing, with the Rev. Shelia Kelly officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Ball-Davis Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ewing Memorial Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the service at the Queen of Peace Hall in Ewing.

VISITATION: Thursday from 5 p.m. in the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry.
