Merle F. Kuntemeier Obituary
Merle F. Kuntemeier, 91, of 2130 Harrison, Quincy, died at 6:23 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 18, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

Merle was born Jan. 21, 1922, near Coatsburg, a son of Fred and Anna Kirlin Kuntemeier. He married Velma B. Baker on Feb. 5, 1950, in St. Peter Evangelical Church, Coatsburg. She died May 15, 2008.

Merle had farmed with his father until his employment with Electric Wheel, which lasted for more than 30 years. He did, however, continue to be a "gentleman farmer." He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he had served as Sunday school superintendent.

He loved to garden and to take pictures. He even tied his camera to his wheelchair at Good Samaritan Home so he wouldn't be without it.

Survivors include his son, Mel (Carol) Kuntemeier of Glenarm; two grandsons, Mark Kuntemeier of Auburn and Joe (Emily) Kuntemeier of Divernon; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Logan and Jayci Kuntemeier; a sister, Marjorie Steinheimer of Pekin; two brothers-in-law, Lester and Ralph Baker, both of Quincy; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Nesbitt of Florida, Gladys Walz of Arkansas and Ruth (Ralph) Phillips of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

Merle was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Geibert; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
