QUINCY -- Our beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Michael L. Frericks, 71, was called home to Heaven on Jan. 5, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., after a short illness. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Jan. 7, 1945, in Quincy, a son of Joseph and Mildred (Mast) Frericks.

Michael was a 1963 graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Quincy.

He married Jean Cramsey on July 30, 1966, and celebrated their 50th anniversary this past July. She survives.

Michael was an electrician working for Brown Electric and Seither and Cherry Company for many years. He retired in 2003. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Michael was born and raised in Quincy with a large, loving family. He worked, played and shared his life surrounded by wonderful family and close friends. Michael, Jean and their children enjoyed traveling the country in their camper, visiting almost all 50 states. Many fond family memories were made during these trips. As members of the Coachmen Caravan camping organization, he and Jean served as president of the local chapter and officers of the international board of directors. In later years, he and Jean enjoyed hosting at Siloam Springs State Park and making annual winter trips south where many additional friendships were made. It was said that with one cup of coffee a stranger became a lifelong friend.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Michele Ellison of Plano, Texas, Jackie Nelson and her husband, Mike, of Burlington, Iowa, and Matt Frericks and his wife, Jennifer, of Quincy; six grandchildren, Erin and Evan Ellison, Cole and Molly Nelson, and Blake and Madelyn Frericks; siblings, Carlene Kurk and her husband, Al, Mary Woodward, Kay Gallaher and her husband, Roger, (Rose) Ann Knuffman, David Frericks and his wife, Cindy, Kenneth Frericks and his wife, Cindy, Lois Jacobson, Alan Frericks and his wife, Nancy, and Jane Haslem; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
