PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- Michael Wendall Johnson, 47, of Pittsfield, died Friday (May 18, 2012) at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Michael was born in Pittsfield on May 11, 1965, a son of Ben R. and Mardell Pearson Johnson. He married Sonia Whiteman Johnson on Aug. 5, 1991, and to this union a son was born, Dillon Johnson. Michael had worked at Heatco and Pike Feeds in Pittsfield and also had been a mechanic at WHB Implement Co. in Pittsfield. He was a member of the Detroit Christian Church and enjoyed blues music, hunting, fishing and playing "air guitar." He especially enjoyed being with friends and family and being with his son, Dillon, and his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed giving his nieces and nephews rides on his wheelchair. He is survived by his father, Ben Johnson (companion, Sandra) of Pittsfield; a son, Dillon Johnson (special friend, Amanda) of Pittsfield; a brother, Ben (Brooke) Johnson of Summer Hill; a sister, Holly (Stuart) Rumple of Quincy; nieces and nephews, Heather Buranosky, Steven Buranosky, Janie Buranosky Blount, Jessie Johnson, Abby Rumple, Ginny Rumple, Wendy McMahon and Stephen (companion, Jodi) Buranosky; great-nieces, Rose and Olivia Buranosky; and a great-nephew, Stephen Buranosky. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mardell; a sister, Kathy; an uncle, Ron Johnson; and a niece, Julia Roberts. SERVICES: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, with Brother Jim Jacques conducting. Burial will be Wednesday morning in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield.
