Patricia "Kay" Mette, 74, of Quincy, formerly of Palmyra, Mo., died Thursday (June 13, 2013) in her home. Kay was born March 21, 1939, in Quincy to James and Gertrude Bullard Still. She was married to Eldon R. Mette on Dec. 16, 1956, in West Ely, Mo. He died Oct. 6, 2011. Mrs. Mette was a loving mother and homemaker. She had formerly owned and operated the Tastee Freeze Restaurant and the Homestead Store, both in Palmyra. She attended Quincy Senior High School. Kay was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid and the Palmyra China Painters Club. She was an accomplished artist who also enjoyed crocheting and gardening. More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely, Mo. Survivors include son, J.B. (Addie) Mette of Wentzville, Mo.; daughters, Vicki (Terry) Coons of Quincy and Susan (Marty) Spencer of Columbia, Mo.; brothers, Don (Betty) Still of Oregon and Richard (Ann) Still of California; sister-in-law, Annie Still of Barry; brother-in-law, Keith (Patsy) Mette of Palmyra; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, Harold "Dee" Still. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, Mo. The Rev. Larry Troxel will conduct.
