Reba Linnelle Welker Obituary
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mo. -- Reba Linnelle Lillard Welker, longtime resident of Williamstown, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2012) in the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Linnelle was born to Spencer and Mary Smith Lillard on July 22, 1925, in Williamstown, the oldest of two children. On March 2, 1946, she married Lester Allen Welker and they resided in Clark County, in the home of Lester's mother to begin with. They later moved down the road to a farm near Lester's mother and brother's. Of this union two children were born, Maridith Welker and Brent Welker. They later moved to Linnelle's grandmother's farm outside of Williamstown where they resided until 1960. They moved back to Williamstown in 1965.

Lester passed away on April 12, 1982. Linnelle was a wonderful mother, schoolteacher, homemaker and farm wife. She began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 16 and taught many years thereafter in Clark and Lewis counties, retiring in 1982 where she had been teaching at Williamstown School. After retirement she spent many hours researching genealogy of both her side of the family as well as Lester's side and spent many hours with her three grandchildren.

She was a member of South Wyaconda Baptist Church (Ballard), a 50-year member of Eastern Star and the Retired Teacher's Association. Her greatest love was her family. Linnelle spent many hours cooking for her family and hired hands. Christmas holidays were especially important to her since that was when her mother and sister's family usually came to stay for a few days.

She is survived by her daughter, Maridith Welker; three grandchildren, Jay Hudnut and Katrina Hudnut and friend, Greg Kinneman, both of Williamstown, and Richard Allen Hudnut (Jennifer) of Covington, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Jaymi, Jordyn, Jonathan, Delainey, Emily and Jayce; a sister-in-law, Esther Briscoe; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Brent Welker; and her only sister, Anna Lou Lillard Welker Bryant.

SERVICES: 3 p.m. Thursday in Ballard Baptist Church near Williamstown with the Rev. Robert Quillin officiating. Burial will be in Wyaconda Cemetery at Wyaconda.
