Rebecca I. Mabry, 93, of Sunset Home, formerly of 639 York and Gibson City, died 10:25 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 3, 2013) in Sunset Home. Mrs. Mabry was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Champaign County, a daughter to Samuel T. and Laura E. Pennington Adkins. She married James A. Mabry on March 27, 1940, in Paxton. He died Oct. 14, 1987. Rebecca worked with her husband on the family farm near Sibley. She was the assistant cook at the nursing home in Piper City. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Gibson City. Rebecca never knew a stranger, her smile brightened the life of everyone she met. She was loved by all she met and will be greatly missed. Survivors are four daughters, Rebecca Yvonne Mabry of Gibson City, Nancy (Tom) Dueringer of Gibbon, Minn., Emily (Terry) Goodapple of Quincy, and Christine (Clyde) Vincent of the state of Tennessee; a son, James (Donna) Mabry Jr. of Odenton, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Skonberg of Paxton. She was preceded in death by a six brothers and three sisters. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff and friends at Sunset Home, the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, Blessing Hospital, Blessing Hospice for their compassionate care. SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Saturday graveside services will be in Drummer Township Cemetery at Gibson City, with the Rev. Ed Taylor. VISITATION: 1 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. MEMORIALS: Gibson Moyer Library or Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City. ARRANGEMENTS: Lamb Funeral Home, 303 N.
