Robert McCULLOCH Obituary

Robert Lindell McCulloch, 76, of Burlington, Iowa, died in his home at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2011) at 1:05 p.m.

Born May 21, 1934, in Wever, Iowa, he was a son of William J. and Helen L. Christ McCulloch. He married Joyce Smith, who died in 1986. He married Judy Ann Smith Aug. 29, 1986, in Burlington.

Robert served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and saw action in the Korean War. He was employed by Churchill Truck Lines for 30 years as a driver and dock worker. He was a member and past commander of Hamilton Walters Marine Corps League. He had a special love for the Toys for Tots program and was very active in it. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, deep sea fishing and golf. He and Judy spent 10 years wintering in southern Texas. Bob had a special love and devotion to his two Shih-Tzu dogs, Amos and Maddie. He was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; three sons, Rory (Leslie) McCulloch of Burlington, Mark (Kim) McCulloch of Columbia, Mo., and Gail (Jennie) McCulloch of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Rhonda Conzone of Easley, S.C.; four stepchildren whom he considered his own, Mitch (Joni) Smith of Cumming, Ga., Kimberly Duque of Burlington, Kristy (Tim) Dillon of Austin, Texas, and Michelle (Ken) Russell of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Brown of Abingdon, and Mary Lou (Norman) Ringler of Quincy, ; a halfbrother, James Mallum of Texas; and a halfsister, Helen Newell of Kerrville, Texas; two aunts, Shirley and Edna; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Kristal Ann Smith; one brother, William J. McCulloch; one sister, Frances Simmons; and one brother-in-law, Oscar Brown.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday memorial service will be in First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Burlington. Interment of ashes will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, at 1 p.m. Monday. Military rites will be conducted by the Hamilton Walters Marine Corps League with assistance from the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.

ARRANGEMENTS: Prugh Funeral Service, 2620 Mount Pleasant St., Burlington, Iowa.

Mark,Gail,Rory and Rhonda,

Our thoughts and prayers are for your family at this time when its needed most.
Our parents Ralph and Buttons Gramke,were dear friends with your parents years ago and I used to babysit for all of you when you still lived in Quincy.We spent many good times together.
Bob was a man with a great love of family and a sense of humor that made him a stand out.
