COATSBURG, Ill. -- Rodney William Bradfield, 69 1/2, of Coatsburg, went to heaven on Wednesday (Oct. 23, 2013) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born Feb. 4, 1944, in Quincy, Rod was a son of William and Ruth Lorene Little Bradfield. He married Connie L. McMullen June 2, 1966, at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. She survives. Mr. Bradfield served his country in the U.S. Army from Sept. 18, 1962 until Sept. 10, 1968. Rod was employed as a machinist at Gardner Denver in Quincy from 1968 until his retirement in 2008. He also operated an auto shop in Coatsburg for many years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. Rod was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He loved collecting guns and was especially proud of his collection of military weaponry. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family. Survivors in addition to his wife are their three children, Christy Blickhan and her husband, Joe, Melissa Bradfield, and Angela Winters and her husband, Rob; ten grandchildren, Sasha Bradfield, Keira Winters, Alex Dosier, April Blickhan, Lacey Blickhan, Zac Winters, Marcus Dosier, Joey Blickhan, Alisha Winters, and Tyler Blickhan; two sisters, Carla Lansing and her husband, Nick, and Linda Haskins and her husband, Jerry; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and one brother, Larry Bradfield. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg by the Rev. Jill Flynn. Burial with military honors will follow at Graymount Cemetery, Coatsburg. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
