Russell Lyle Schultz

EWING, Mo. -- Russell Lyle Schultz, 83, of rural Ewing, died at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday (May 11, 2011) in the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown.

Russell was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Barry, a son of Johnnie Russell and Helen Lucille Kellum Schultz. He married Edith Marie Durst on Jan. 15, 1950, in Center. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in January 2007. She died July 23, 2007.

He was a member of the Dover Baptist Church near LaGrange and had served on the Lewis County Fair Board and the Lewis County Pork Producers. He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1944 and had been engaged in farming all of his life.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Garkie and her husband, Carroll, of Ewing, and Kathyrn Roberts and her husband, Gregory, of Boonville; three sons, James (Jim) Schultz of Kirksville, Johnnie Schultz and his wife, Pam, of Ewing and Jeffrey Schultz and his wife, Amy, of Ewing; grandchildren, Carrie Bliven, Nicholas Garkie, Aaron and Kelly Roberts, Stephanie, Jodie and Julie Schultz, and Austin, Andrew, Avery and Ashton Schultz; great-grandchildren, Colton, Cody, Cooper and Cason Bliven, Annabel Roberts and Haleigh Winter; one sister, Betty Glenn of Lewistown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Monday in Dover Baptist Church near LaGrange with the Rev. Jordan Whitaker conducting. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing.
