Ruth B. Hicks Obituary
DURHAM, Mo. -- Ruth B. Hicks, 84, of rural Durham, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill.

She was born Sept. 23, 1929, near Durham, a daughter of Reuben and Eunice Tucker Smyser. She married Chester Hicks, the love of her life, on Aug. 11, 1947, in her parent's home on the family farm where she lived 83 of her 84 years. He died Sept. 11, 2010.

Ruth was a member of the 48th Street Crossing Church in Quincy. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Gunlock and friend, Danny Dannenhauer, of Lewistown and Gayla Curry and her husband, Ray, of Hannibal; one granddaughter, Amber Dutra, and her husband, Kris, of Santa Maria, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Casey and Alyssa Dutra, of Santa Maria; two stepgrandchildren, Jimmy Curry of Greenfield, Ill., and Rachel Curry of Jacksonville, Ill.; one brother, Roy Smyser, and his wife, Hazel, of Lewistown; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in the Ball-Davis Funeral Home, Ewing, with the Rev. Chris Lefever conducting. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Durham Cemetery Association.
