Ruth Rosetta Douglas, 85, of 2020 Spruce, died on Tuesday (May 14, 2013) in Blessing Hospital. She was born on Jan. 29, 1928, in LaGrange, Mo., a daughter of William and Edith Bayles Majors. She married Richard Douglas on July 2, 1948, in LaGrange. He died June 28, 2009. Mrs. Douglas was a school bus driver for the Quincy Public School system for almost 20 years. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Quincy. At the church, she was a member of the Ushers Board and a faithful Sunday school teacher of the primary class. She was also a member of the Wemiadausis Club. She was a member of the Ladies Standard Review Club and the Central District Association. She was also a member of the VFW Post 619 Women's Auxiliary. She is survived by five children, Roxinne Douglas and Renea R. Douglas, both of Quincy, Richard W. Douglas Jr. and Rhonna Douglas-West, both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ryan R. Douglas of Shawnee; grandchildren, RaShauna Washington, Walter R. Majors, Jahnekia A. Burks, Jimere Douglas, J'Kolbe Kelly, Tremass Pleasant, Danica Trone, Jared Holtschlag, R'Shon Douglas, Terrell Douglas, RhoMel West, Ryan Douglas II, Ryonna Douglas, Peyton Nicholson and Ariya Nieders; one sister, Maxine Green; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Roger Douglas, Stanley Douglas and his wife, Christina, Viola Majors, Claydine Douglas, Edith Majors, Genevieve Douglas and Polly Mae Crawford; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives; and her dearest childhood friend, Cleo Robinson; and numerous friends. In addition to her husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Rhomo-Vincent Douglas; and brothers, Floyd Majors and Odelee Majors. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church. Following the memorial, graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Quincy Memorial Park.
