Steven Wayne Rueter, 43, of Marion, formerly of Quincy, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) in his home. Born Nov. 8, 1969, in Quincy, Steve was a son of Earl "Skip" and Barb Hussong Rueter. He married Angie Hazelwood on Oct. 31, 2000, in Metropolis. She survives. Steve was a 1987 graduate of Quincy High School. He enjoyed fixing and restoring bicycles and took great pride in his creative art work. An accomplished musician, Steve loved writing songs, playing his guitar and performing with the various bands he played with. Steve had been employed at Wildlife Materials, Inc., in Murphysboro. In addition to his wife, Angie, survivors include his parents, Skip and Barb Rueter of Quincy; two daughters, Payne Rueter of Clairmont, Calif. and Grace Rueter of Marion; a brother, Greg Rueter (Sherry Arvik) of Bloomington; a sister, Melissa Rueter (Mike McClelland) of Quincy; a nephew, Nate Veihl of Bloomington; his mother-in-law, Bev Hazelwood of Marion; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Rueter; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Hussong; maternal grandparents, Earl and Marguerite Rueter; and an uncle, Mike Hussong. SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenmount Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Disseler conducting. VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
