LIBERTY, Ill. -- Thomas K. Ruths, 61, of rural Liberty, died at 6:26 a.m. Tuesday (March 12, 2013) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy. Born March 10, 1952, in Quincy, Tom was a son of John M. and Isabelle Allen Ruths. He married Deborah Seward on Dec. 7, 1974, in Payson. She survives. Tom was a member of Payson Congregational Church. Well known throughout the area, he enjoyed talking and socializing with people, but his greatest joy was being with his grandchildren. He was employed in construction, first for Bleigh Construction for 13 years and for the last 17 years with Bross Construction. In addition to his wife, Deborah, survivors include his mother, Isabelle Hillerts, of Quincy; two sons, Thomas D. Ruths (Dee Dee) and Scott R. Ruths (Justine "Jody"), both of Liberty; four grandchildren, Lawren Ruths, Delaynie Ruths, Layne Ruths and Lucas Ruths; a brother, Jack Ruths, of Payson; two sisters, Sue Voth and Michele "Shelly" Crowley (Roy), both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruths was preceded in death by his father. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Disseler conducting. Burial will be in Burton Cemetery, Burton. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday in the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Burton Cemetery Association.
