CLAYTON, Ill. -- Virginia I. Couch, 83, of Timberpoint Healthcare Center in Camp Point, formerly of Clayton, died at 5:34 p.m. Wednesday (March 12, 2014) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born Feb. 11, 1931, in Clayton Township, Virginia was a daughter of Robert and Gladys Clark Grist. She married Arvis G. Couch Dec. 6, 1950, in Perry, Ill. He died Oct. 27, 2010. Virginia enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, and loved to sing. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Griswold of Camp Point and Diane Banach (Pete) of Macomb; four grandsons, Doug Griswold (Shannon) of Columbia, S.C., Aaron Griswold (fiance' Brandi Sanderson) of Quincy, Ben Banach of Chicago and Nick Banach of Austin, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Emerson Griswold, Ruari Martin, Maiti Martin, Kelton Sanderson and Austin Sanderson; a sister, Doris Sweeting of Clayton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Tony Griswold; and her brother, Robert Lee Grist. SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton, with the Rev. Terry Cain. Burial will follow at South Side Cemetery at Clayton. VISITATION: Sunday from noon until time of services in the funeral home in Clayton, MEMORIALS: Timberpoint Healthcare Center Activity Fund or the Clayton Baptist Church.
