Wilbert Frederick Jording, 84, of 1707 N. 12th, Quincy, died at 8:04 p.m. Sunday (July 7, 2013) in Blessing Hospital. Wilbert was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Mount Leonard, Mo., a son of the Rev. William and Della Elizabeth Heitbrink Jording. He married Mary Ann Patterson on Feb. 14, 1954, in Warsaw. She died Dec. 7, 2001. He was a graduate of Marshall (Mo.) High School and joined the U.S. Army. He served in Korea as a medical technician. Wilbert spent his entire career in the food industry. He was manager of the Benner Tea Co. in Carthage, and in 1960 the Jordings moved to Quincy, where he was produce manager at Kroger grocery store. He was employed by Stanley Foods of Milan, and then worked 20 years for Kohl Wholesale. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served many times on church council and as elder, and was an usher and Sunday school superintendent. He was an avid Cubs fan and liked yard work and doing household chores. Survivors include his son, Lonn (Teresa) Jording of Quincy; grandson, Jeremiah (fiancÃ©e, Natalie Buch) Jording; stepgrandchildren, Jessica Sue (Alexander Fritz) Martin of Collinsville and Adam James Martin of Quincy; two sisters, Wilma (Robert) Altheide of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Judy (Michael) Hardy of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marlin Rempfer and the Rev. Michael Fieberkorn conducting.
