William Fenton Thompson died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Lakeside Meadows in Lake Ozark, Mo., after a brief illness.

He was born April 12, 1941, in St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy and attended Rockhurst College and Quincy College. He served in the U.S. Army as a crytographer at the White House and Camp David. Post discharge he was a valued employee of Brower Manufacturing Co. in Quincy until his retirement.

He is survived by a sister, Joyce Ann Middendorf and husband, Ted, of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, David Lee and wife, Virginia, of Arlington, Texas; nieces, Laura Ann Tubbert and Kelly Ann Thompson; a nephew, Patrick Ted Middendorf; great-nieces, Lucille, Madeline and Audrey Tubbert; and a great-nephews, Ian and Gavin Middendorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fenton and Margaret Ann Thompson of Quincy.

The family would like to thank Lakeside Meadows for the compassionate and professional care and also Joe and Joanne Krainz and caregiver Jenna Lawson for their many kindnesses.

SERVICES: Memorial service will be held in Quincy in late spring.
