HANNIBAL, Mo. -- John Raymond Fette, 85, of Hannibal, died at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2014) in Hannibal Regional Hospital. He was born July 5, 1928, in Hannibal, a son of John C. and Dorothy (Albright) Fette. He married Shirley A. Bower on Jan. 9, 1954, in Corinth, Miss. She died March 19, 2002. Mr. Fette, along with James Wingfield, was the owner and operator of Fette Orchard from 1968 to present. The orchard was established by his grandfather in 1899. He also proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army as a military policeman and for five years was in the Army Reserves. In his younger years, Mr. Fette enjoyed riding motorcycles, constructing and flying model planes and woodworking. Later on in life, he enjoyed books, movies and puzzles. Survivors include three children, Sue Russell and husband, Paul, of New London, Ann Fette of Hannibal and John Fette of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Adam Hudson (Donna), Angie Cook (Jason), Jake Hudson (Dani) and Ashley Hudson; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to both his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Willis Hardy, and one sister, Phyllis Douglas. SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in Grand View Burial Park.
