Richard G. Wright, 78, of 912 Santa Maria Court, died at 4:11 a.m. Friday (Feb. 21, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

He was born June 28, 1935, in Quincy, a son of Floyd G. and Fredia Lohman Wright. On May 28, 1955, he married Dorothy Faler in Quincy. She survives.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was employed as a salesman for McDonald Stove Co. for 45 years.

In their spare time, Richard and Dorothy enjoyed camping, square dancing and traveling. They were members of the Traveling Trompers Camping Club and the Silver Dollars Square Dancing Club. Richard was a lifetime member of the South Side Boat Club.

Richard bowled at the Tangerine Bowl since its opening, and he was the league secretary for the Monday Night Owls for many years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Gregory (Jill) Wright of Silex, Mo.; a daughter, Debi (Tom) Gehring of Quincy; five grandsons, Jason (Nikki) Wright of Wentzville, Mo., Travis (Kate) Wright of St. Paul, Mo., Quen (Laura) Gehring of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Blake Gehring and Tim Gehring, both of Quincy; five great-grandchildren, Owen, Cole, Makenzie and Dylan Wright, and Forrest Gehring; a sister, Judith (Tom) Lowary of Chatham; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandsons, Parker and Logan Wright; and a brother, James, who died in infancy.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brian Stone conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
