MONROE CITY, Mo. -- Harold Hall, 83, of Monroe City, died Friday (March 7, 2014) in the University Hospital in Columbia.

He was born May 27, 1930, in Quincy, Ill., to W. Lee and Mary Helen Frericks Hall. He was married to Theresa Adam on April 19, 1949, in St. Stephen's Church in Indian Creek. Theresa died in August 2008.

Harold lived in Hunnewell, was owner of the Hall's Service for 20-plus years, worked in maintenance at Prince Manufacturing Co. in Quincy, and ended his career at Diemakers Inc. with 22 years of service before retiring with Theresa in 1996.

Harold was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Quincy, Ill., where he was a lector and Eucharistic minister until they joined Holy Rosary Parish in Monroe City. He was a longtime member of St. Stephen's Council, the Knights of Columbus, and at Holy Rosary parish he continued as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He was on the team for RCIA and was an active member of Cursillo and Residents Encounter Christ (REC).

He was a fix-it man and was devoted to his family and many friends.

Harold is survived by his children, Terri (Bob) Brown of Hartsburg, Barbara (Don) Williams and Adam (Judy) Hall of Columbia, Chris (David) Pfeiffer of Winigan, Alan (Kim) Hall of Eldon, David (Lora) Hall of Holts Summit, and Larry (Audrea) Hall of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Harriet (Norman) Grubb of Hannibal; sisters-in-law, Winifred Hall of Palmyra, and Katie Hall of Springfield, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Richard (Rusty) Adam of Monroe City, and Martin (Charlotte) Adam of Quincy. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, April Hughes, Barbara Brockelman, Dawn Klempke, Greg Williams, Lauren Hermann, Taylor Hall, Angie James, Kristin Mayson, Kim Kent, Nick Pfeiffer, Shannon Koelzer, Courtney Brown, Dillon Hall, Cameron Hall, Peyton Hall and Kendalyn Hall.

Harold had 21 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Ian Hughes, Finn and Phoebe Brockelman, Hector Klempke, Tom, Max and Clare Williams, Quentin, Spencer and Trip Hermann, Isabelle and Landry Hall, Sean and Matt James, Jordin and Stella Mayson, Logan and Milo Koelzer, Hallan and Rylan Brown, and baby Kent due in May 2014. Harold is survived by his many nieces and nephews who will miss his teasing and stories and the search for the next lunker trout. Harold will be remembered fondly by his close friends, Dallas (Mary) Elliott and Jim Reeves and special friend, Doris Kennison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William, Eugene and Norbert Hall.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City, with the Rev. Mike Penn conducting. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Monroe City.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Williams, Taylor Hall, Nick Pfeiffer, Dillon Hall, Cameron Hall and Ian Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Elliott, Jim Reeves and all of Mr. Hall's granddaughters.

VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Garner Funeral Home and Chapel in Monroe City with the Daughters of Isabella reciting the rosary at 4:45 p.m. and the parish holding a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
