MENDON, Ill. -- Bonnie F. Steinkamp, 62, of Mendon, passed away Sunday (March 16, 2014) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Bonnie was born on May 7, 1951, in Quincy, to Donald and Hazel Sole Tipton. She married David E. Steinkamp on Aug. 29, 1970, in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty. David survives of Mendon. Bonnie had worked for Methode Electronics in Golden, then for Harris Broadcasting Corp. in Quincy, before starting Bonnie's Daycare in Mendon, which she operated for nine years. Bonnie was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon. She collected bears, loved going to craft shows and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bonnie is survived by her mother, Hazel Tipton of Quincy; three children, Lori (David) Lowry of Ursa, Todd (Dena) Steinkamp of Ursa and Alex (Tiffany) Steinkamp of Ursa; three grandchildren, Alyssa and Zach Steinkamp of Ursa and Brooklynn Steinkamp of Mendon; six brothers, Bob (companion, Mary Young) Tipton, Mike (Mary) Tipton, Jim (Vickie) Tipton, Rodney (Sue) Tipton, Donnie (Sandy) Tipton and Chris (Lisa) Tipton, all of Quincy; and four sisters, Mary (Bob) Ewing of Lake Wells, Fla., Betty (Wayne) Mabeus of Weaver, Iowa, Joanne (Tom) Dirkschneider of Lincoln, Neb., and Teresa Klingele of Quincy. She was preceded in death by her father; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Ellen Steinkamp; one niece, Bridget Bush; and one brother-in-law, Duane Lowary. SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon with the Rev. Jeff Stone conducting. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. Thursday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
