Frank J. Meyer, 88, of St. Vincent Home, formerly of 507 Holford Drive, Quincy, died at 9:38 a.m. Monday (April 7, 2014) in the Blessing Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Burton Township, a son of John V. and Elizabeth Benz Meyer. He married Isabelle Koyer on Oct. 5, 1968, in St. Mary Catholic Church. She survives.

Frank served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Electric Wheel in Quincy after many years of service.

He was a member of the Church of St. Peter, where he participated in the Adoration Chapel for many years. He also was a member of the Machinist Lodge, American Legion Post No. 37 and Western Catholic Union.

Frank was a regular blood donor, donating many gallons over the years.

Frank was the family archivist and a wonderful uncle who enjoyed and took care of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He loved flowers, he grew beautiful tulips and truly enjoyed gardening. He grew the biggest tomatoes, and he canned and cooked his produce to share with his family.

In addition to his wife, Isabelle, he is survived by a brother, Ambrose Meyer of Payson, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Marcelles, Albert, Johnny and Leonard Meyer; and a sister, Mary Meyer.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Honors Detail.

VISITATION: 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
