Richard L. Schaffer Obituary
Richard L. Schaffer, 91, of 1612 Jackson, died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday (April 8, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Quincy, a son of Archie William and Edna L. Wakefield Schaffer. On Dec. 12, 1953, he married Mildred Pauline Frazier in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Schaffer was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He was a chief inspector at Gardner Denver Co. and retired after 43 years. Mr. Schaffer was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

In addition to this wife, survivors include his son, Michael R. Schaffer of Tulsa, Okla.; his daughter, Paula S. (Bobbi) Jackson of Quincy; five grandchildren; a brother, Bill Schaffer of Ballwin, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil and Archie; and a sister, Margaret Staggs.

SERVICES: 3 p.m. Wednesday, with full military honors by American Legion Post 37, in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor John Tuthill. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Seventh Day Adventist Church.
