Scott A. Young, 51, of Quincy, died at 3 p.m. Friday (April 11, 2014) in Blessing Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1963, in Camp LeJeune, N.C., Scott was a son of Lester and Shirley Altgilbers Young Thornton. Scott enjoyed cooking, doing yardwork, playing video games, riding his bike and watching movies. He also enjoyed walking his dog, Buddy, in the park; but he especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Young was employed as a bartender at Express Way Blues in Quincy for several years. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Thornton of Quincy; two daughters, Amanda Epperson (Gerard) of Lewistown, Mo., and Stacy Young of Quincy; one son, Scott Young II of Imperial, Kan.; and six grandchildren, Cadence Epperson and Grady Epperson, both of Lewistown and Zane Nunn, Lyric Hills, Wyatt Hills and Ella Epperson, all of Quincy. Also surviving are three brothers, Tim Valentine (Sherri) of Ursa and Bryan Young and James Valentine, both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his father and his paternal and maternal grandparents. SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Schaffer conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
