Bruce F. Barnwell, 74, of 5008 E. Paradise Lane, died in April 13, 2014, in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Cairo, a son of Cecil and Marjorie (Ferrill) Barnwell. He married Patricia Padavic on Aug. 9, 1975. She survives. Mr. Barnwell was a Wholesale salesman. He owned and operated the Quartermaster Surplus Store and later worked at Williams Shooter Supply. He was an avid gun enthusiast and, with his wife by his side, was an active member of the gun show community. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and building things for his family. He was a history buff, particularly World War II, and a voracious reader. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Kathy Saunders of Quincy and Jeffrey Scott Barnwell and his wife, Lori, of Derry, N.H.; three grandchildren, Sarah Saunders, Doug Barnwell and Owen Barnwell; one brother, David Barnwell, and his wife, JoAnne; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Barnwell was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Barnwell. SERVICES: Private services were held. MEMORIALS: Quincy Humane Society or Great River Honor Flight.
