HANNIBAL, Mo. -- William "Bill" J. Peters, 87, of Hannibal, formerly of Barry, Ill. and Hull, Ill., died at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday, (April 30, 2014) in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Mr. Peters was born on Nov. 13, 1926, in East Hannibal, Ill., a son of William H. and Ruth Babb Peters. He married to Garnette I. Dunker on Jan. 7, 1947 in Hull. She died on April 14, 2002.

Mr. Peters was a United States Navy Veteran. He served his country during World War II. Mr. Peters farmed most of his life and was the former owner of Hull Feed and Farm Supply.

He was devoted to his family and loved being with them. His hobby was spending time with his kids, grand kids and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Mr. Peters was a member of Hull United Methodist Church in Hull.

Survivors include five children, Joe (Carol) Peters, Jim (Mary Ann) Peters, David (Karen) Peters, Sarah (Jerry) Bradshaw, Susan (Dale) Zimmerman; one, brother, Lester Peters; one sister, Ruth Cole; 12 grandchildren, William I. Waine Peters, Raymond J. Peters, Jason F. Peters, J. Derrick Peters, R. Anne Brinkman, Adam M. Brinkman, Thomas O. Zimmerman, Benjamin D. Bradshaw, Brett A. Bradshaw, Dorian K. Peters, Joseph B. Peters, and Jonathon D. Peters; eight great-grandchildren, William, Raymond, Jeffrey, Michael, Marie, Alex, Augustus, and William "Will".

He is preceded, in death by his parents; an infant granddaughter; a granddaughter, Cora Grace Peters; two brothers, John J. Peters and Louis F. Peters; and one sister, Eleanor Hilgenbrick.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Tuesday in James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal, with Dean Collings conducting. Burial with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be in Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, Ill. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, William I. Waine Peters, Raymond J. Peters, Jason F. Peters, J. Derrick Peters, Adam M. Brinkman, Benjamin D. Bradshaw, Brett A Bradshaw, Joseph B. Peters and Jonathon D. Peters. Honorary pallbearer will be Thomas O. Zimmerman.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation.

MEMORIALS: Kinderhook Cemetery or , Peoria, Illinois affiliate in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.
