CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Joanne Myers, 77, of Camp Point, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday (May 2, 2014) in Timber Point Healthcare Center, Camp Point.

Born April 30, 1937, in Springfield, Joanne was a daughter of George and Daisy Foltz Dippel. She married Jim Myers on Jan. 21, 1961, in Waverly. He survives.

She attended Waverly Elementary and graduated from Waverly High School in 1956. She majored in music at Illinois State University and graduated in 1960.

Joanne was employed as a music teacher for Central Schools for several years. She was also a devoted homemaker who cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Myers was a member of Adams County HCE. She loved music and flowers, and spent many hours working in the garden. She also enjoyed playing cards with the "Bridge Girls," but her greatest passion was her family. She was a member of First Christian Church in Camp Point.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Jill Higgins (Roger) of LaPrairie; a son, Jon Myers (Jodi) of Camp Point; five grandchildren, Zack, Zane and Jaci Higgins, and Justin and Jason Myers; and a great-grandson, Garrett Buss.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Camp Point.

VISITATION: Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point. Visitation with the family will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
