Hazel F. Paden, 92, of the Sycamore Healthcare Centre, formerly of 2221 Rainbow Lane, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday (May 23, 2014) in Sycamore Healthcare Centre.

Born April 10, 1922, in Quincy, Hazel was a daughter of Estil Glen and Edna Grace Shurt Hogge. She married Joseph R. Paden on Dec. 31, 1949, in Palmyra, Mo. He died Feb. 9, 1984.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed working in her garden, bowling and boating on the river.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Hazel was employed at Motorola until their closing and then for 10 years as a CNA at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. Following her retirement, Hazel wanted to help others and worked at Quincy Terrace. She continued caring for others even after moving to Sycamore Healthcare Centre by helping with other residents' needs when she could.

Survivors include a daughter, Tamara "Tami" DeLay (John), of Mason, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Pam Paden, of Quincy; six grandchildren, Kari Wetzel (Mike) of Ursa, Amanda Paden (Rob Kimbrell) of Quincy, Lori Paden of Quincy, Bryan Paden of Quincy, Renee DeLay of Mason and Aimee Donnellon (Kevin) of Mainville, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Brady Paden, Ashlynd Wetzel, Aiden Snider, Camden Paden, Ryan Donnellon, Alexander Donnellon, Benjamin Donnellon; and was excitedly awaiting the birth of her eighth great-grandchild due in October. Also surviving are two brothers, Jack Hogge (Vivian) and Duane Hogge (Jody), both of Quincy; a brother-in-law, Jim Bailey, of Willow Park, Texas; a sister-in-law, Annie Hogge, of Menifee, Ark.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, Mrs. Paden was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve Paden; three brothers, Charles Hogge, Ted Hogge and Bud Hogge; two sisters, Bette Bailey and Esther McLaughlin (Wayne); and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Hogge.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery, near Ursa.

VISITATION: 9:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Quincy Chapter or Sycamore Healthcare Centre.
