CARTHAGE, Ill. -- Kathy M. Belden Rigney, 37, of Carthage, died at 1:58 p.m. Thursday (June 19, 2014 ) in her home in Carthage

She was born Dec. 24, 1976, in Quincy to Keith and Roberta Flesner Belden. She married Jade Rigney on April 26, 2003, in Burnside. He survives.

Kathy was a child development specialist with the Regional Office of Education in Hancock County. She was a 1995 graduate of Southeastern High School in Augusta. She received her LPN nursing degree at Carl Sandburg College and received double bachelor's degrees from Western Illinois University in Macomb in law enforcement and psychology.

She was raised in the Lutheran faith and had served as the treasurer of the Carthage Primary School PTO.

She is survived along with her husband, Jade, by two sons, Nicholas and Benjamin Rigney and a daughter, Delaney Rigney; her father and stepmother, Keith and Brenda Belden of Augusta; a brother, Kasey (Sam Walker) Belden of Bowen; a half sister, McKenzie Belden of Augusta; a stepsister, Michelle (Scott) Dooley of Carthage; a stepbrother, Michael (Mikayla) Schone of Bowen; maternal grandparents, Virgil and Marilyn Flesner of Golden; mother and father-in-law, Melissa and Michael "Butch" Moore of Carthage; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Belden, and her paternal grandparents, Harold and Betty Belden.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, in the Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with Mindy and John Weller officiating. Burial will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.

VISITATION: 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in the Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 3 to 6 p.m.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to an education fund for her children.

ARRANGEMENTS: Printy Funeral Home, Carthage, assisted by Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta.
