LIBERTY, Ill. - Gaylord Wayne Friday, 69, of Liberty, died at 12:37 p.m. Friday (June 13, 2014) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.|
Born April 28, 1945, in Quincy, Wayne was the son of Herschel and Maude Davis Friday. He married Patricia A. Achilles on Oct. 27, 1966, in Quincy. She survives.
Wayne was of the Christian faith. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed "just staying on the farm."
Wayne was employed by the city of Quincy for 32 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 48 years, Pat; a son, Rob Bridges of Hot Springs, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Toni Friday of Quincy; four grandchildren, Joseph W. Friday (Ashley Watson) of Liberty, William M. Friday of Quincy, Cate Bridges of Hot Springs, and Alex Bridges of Hot Springs; three great-grandchildren, Joseph D. Friday, Jordan M. Friday and Aiden Bridges; two sisters, Shirley Miller of Quincy and Nancy Shoop of Quincy; a brother, Greg Friday of Quincy; mother-in-law, Wanda Sparrow of Liberty; three sisters-in-law, Mary Stice (Gene) of Quincy, Julia Brown (George) of Ellisville, Miss., and Judy Pierce (Ronnie) of Maywood, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Tony Achilles (Diane Taylor) of Rocky Mount, Mo., and Rick Jones of Ursa; many loving nieces and nephews; two of his son's best friends whom he thought of as part of his family, Bill Smith (Christie) of Summerville, S.C., and Eddie Casey (Cindy) of LaGrange, Mo.; and two very close friends, Carl Echternkamp (Marisa) of Liberty and Nancy Swift of Milan.
Mr. Friday was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gaylord W. Friday Jr.; a daughter, Nancy K. Friday; sisters, Elsie Jones, Sandra Jo Friday, Wanda Boernson (Richard) and Ellie Boernson (Clyde); and two brothers, Wendell Friday and Terry Friday.
SERVICES: Mr. Friday was cremated. At Wayne's request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenmount Cemetery.
