Robert E. "Bob" Norris, 88, of Quincy, died Wednesday (June 25, 2014) in his home surrounded by his family. Born March 9, 1926, in Quincy, Bob was a son of Clinton and Mildred Norris. He married Georgia (Janie) Van Order on July 15, 1950, in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Norris served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bob was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, having held membership for 50 consecutive years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Quincy. Bob was Ham Radio operator (K9VAT) for many years. He loved camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He was called on by his family to fix anything. In addition to his wife, Janie, survivors include his four children, Kathy Norris, Nancy (Mike) Steward, Bob Jr. (Nancy) and Lou Ann (Bill) Lewis; six grandchildren, Denise (Ed) Simmons-Greer, Angela (Thomas) Simmons-Jones, Scott Steward, Andrea Lewis, Alex Lewis and Katie Norris; five great-grandchildren, Sadie Steward, Ellie Mann, Brennen Jones, Anderson Greer and Nella Campbell; and his sister, Bonnie Miller. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathleen; and a brother, Richard. SERVICES: Following Bob's wishes, cremation has been accorded.
