MOUNT STERLING, Ill. -- William L. "Bill" McQuigg, 52, of Mount Sterling, formerly of Carthage, died at 2:56 p.m. Friday (June 27, 2014) in Rock Island County. Bill was born Nov. 6, 1961, a son of Edwin LaVerne and Linda L. Allen McQuigg in Carthage. He graduated from Carthage High School and went on to become a lieutenant in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He retired in February after 25 years of service. Bill was a member of the NRA, a certified concealed-carry instructor and IEMA coordinator. He was a Jeff Gordon fan and Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Blues fan. Bill enjoyed golfing and riding his Harley. He was also a cancer survivor. Bill loved spending time with his family. Bill is survived by three children, William "Will" McQuigg of Mount Sterling, Nevada McQuigg of Mount Sterling and Chance McQuigg of Peoria; two brothers, Edwin (Kim) McQuigg of Carthage and Floyd (Shellie) Duffy of Carthage; his mother, Linda L. (Dale) Schamberger; two sisters, Avery (Gary) David of Carthage and Angie (Randy) Ihnen of Hamilton; his former wife, Patricia (McCormick) McQuigg of Peoria; and a special friend, Tina Watts of Pittsfield. He was preceded in death by his father. SERVICES: 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, in the Printy Funeral Home, Carthage. VISITATION: 1 p.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.
